A Message for the Holidays

So, here we are. So much has happened recently and I feel this is the time to pause and reflect before the New Year starts slapping us around.
We made the movie, it has come out on DVD just in time for that odd little Christian holiday where they celebrate not being fed to lions or something. It is number one on Amazon, and the old Firefly set is crawling back up the charts like a thirsty man in the desert towards a mirage. Does this make us better than anyone else? You bet it does. But it’s not the kind of better than that causes you to look down your nose at anyone. It’s more the kind that lets you pat someone patiently on the arm and say in a sanctimonious tone, “Mm hm, it’s alright. I’ll get you a copy of the movie and you can be cool, too. Just not quite as cool as me because I’ve been a Browncoat for sometime, now.”
If you are like me, you watch the movie to assure yourself the future will be safe, you watch the extras to see old friends, and you listen to Joss’ commentary and shed a little tear over good times. Waht’s that? You don’t cry in the commentary? Well, just have an emotion chip installed, you robot, and refill your eye bags with saline.
Be well, Browncoats. Aim high, as we have all learned that nothing is impossible (except getting Jewel and Morena to stop fighting over who is prettier when we all know it’s me). Happy Holidays.

Nathan “Captain Tightpants” Fillion

I’ve been a browncoat longer than many and I’ve seen the movie 4 times now! HA! I’m automatically cooler than everyone else.

Supercooled Water

Supercooled Water

(December 8th, 2005) Yesterday morning I went to get some bottled water from my garage. It had been in the garage for over a week, mostly undisturbed. The outside temperature was reportedly -17°C (about 1°F); I imagine the garage was slightly warmer than that, but still below the freezing point of water. I picked up a bottle of water and noticed that it was not frozen. In fact, it was completely liquid. But soon after I disturbed it, the water in the bottle began to crystalize. The water became progressively cloudy from the top down as it froze inside the bottle. The effect was much like the ice creeping along the walls and floors in The Day After Tomorrow.

Now THIS is freaking cool! Its been getting cold enough here lately that I might have to try this out for myself. I’ll be sure to take some videos like this guy, but I doubt they’ll be much better quality since my camera is probably quite similar to his. Oh well, it’ll be interesting, nonetheless!

IGN: Exclusive: A Serenity Sequel?

December 1, 2005 – IGN FilmForce has heard that, although it was very disappointed in the poor boxoffice showing for Serenity, Universal may not have retired Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his renegade crew just yet.

Oh my, this is the best news I’ve heard all day!! Well, not news… but a rumor, but still cool! We can only hope! Plus, if the ratings are good, and I have a strong feeling they would be, there might be a new season of Firefly! Strike up another for the Browncoats!
